Direct primary care

direct primary care

Direct Primary Care (DPC) is an innovative model of healthcare that allows patients and medical providers to work together the way they've always wanted.  Patients can reach out to their medical team with questions and receive prompt answers, arrange same day office visits with their provider, and have the time they need to be cared for.  Instead of a doctor being responsible for thousands of patients, but not having the time for anyone, DPC doctors limit the number of patients they care for to the hundreds.  This allows patients to have increased access to their doctor, and for doctors to remain unrushed and attentive to the patient in front of them.

Transparency and up front costs are central to Direct Primary Care.  Membership fees are clear, and there are also discounted prices available for most medications, as well as laboratory and radiology studies.  There are no additional fees for office visits (or telephone or virtual visits) with your medical provider.  When insurance is not used for your doctors visits or needs related to that visit (meds, labs, x-rays), costs are dramatically reduced.  No more surprise bills or inflated costs for seeing your doctor, taking common medications, or having testing done.

Direct Primary Care does not use insurance coverage for basic medical costs associated with primary care.  While most patients still need insurance (and we recommend it!) in case of hospitalization or surgery, insurance is often costly for primary care related health needs.  DPC practices, including Luz Medicine, do not bill your insurance for office visits.  Instead, individuals or families pay a monthly membership fee to be patients of the practice.  By removing insurance from the doctor-patient relationship at our office, we are left with the access, time, convenience, and other benefits described above.

fertility wellness

fertility wellness

While fertility issues are common, many struggle to find answers and heal their bodies.  Luz Medicine thoroughly evaluates those with fertility concerns, works to uncover underlying problems, and discover solutions to help resolve the causes so that the body can function normally.  Normal human bodily function includes regular menstrual periods, normal sperm counts and semen analysis, and healthy pregnancy to term.

Oftentimes individuals and couples struggling with fertility concerns are left confused, frustrated, and alone, rather than supported while working towards feeling and being well.  We see you working through fertility challenges and we're here to help.

Our fertility wellness services require a high level of care customized to the needs of the patient.  Because this approach requires more time and specific facilities, the cost is distinct from our regular Direct Primary Care services.

Fertility Wellness at Luz Medicine includes:

• Preconception Counseling
• Infertility Workup & Treatment
• Miscarriage Prevention
• Pregnancy Care through 24 weeks

• Irregular or Absent Menstrual Cycles
• Abnormal Semen Analysis
• Peripartum Mood Concerns
• Post Partum Care

community health

community health

Our team is devoted to wellness for our patients and our community at large.  We believe that positive changes in our patients' health can transform individuals, families, and future generations.  In addition to promoting health for those at Luz Medicine, we believe that extraordinary, transparent, and patient centered medical care will impact our community.  When others find out about how affordable medications, labs, and radiology are when insurance is not involved, it may shift the tide of overpriced goods and services within the healthcare industry.  Likewise, patients deserve time with their doctor, both at appointments and when needs arise after hours.  Collaborating with our patients for their care doesn't strike us as revolutionary, but elemental to the doctor patient relationship.

With Luz Medicine's additional focus on fertility wellness, we seek to transform conversations not just around excellent primary care, but fertility issues, as well.  Instead of medications and surgery being the only way to resolve fertility or women's health concerns, we find most of our patients don't need to rely on those approaches, or those approaches alone, to help resolve their problems.  Additionally, while young women are often the decision makers around health for their household, they are often shuffled between various medical professionals for common concerns that they face.  Instead of a separate provider for your thyroid, emotional health, early pregnancy care, menstrual or fertility concerns, and pediatric care, women and their families may all seek their care together at Luz Medicine.  Medical care for women and their families doesn't need to be scattered anymore.  Also, if you're pregnant, lactating, post partum, or have another common condition that many young women face, we're happy to partner with you, since we commonly work to help young mothers with health concerns.

During this season of worldwide viral pandemic, our plans for community gatherings are currently on hold.  Instead, we are using our social media outlets to "start conversations" around excellent  primary care and fertility wellness.  We look forward to doing more in the future to learn from those around us what they are looking for from Luz Medicine and also to educate around basic health and wellness.
